From the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner, December 4, 2011. Letters to the Editor

To the editor:

We have protected the Chitina dip-netters since we were formed in 1976. I became president in 1984 and Gen Carlson was the first president.

The Board of Fisheries is still using a rural priority, which is unconstitutional for state agencies to do in Alaska.

The Alaska Supreme Court will have a hearing Dec. 5 at 2:15 p.m. on the fifth floor of the courthouse on Lacey Street. Please attend.

This has been a long court battle and very expensive, so any donation you can make would sure help the cause. Call us at 456-4447 and check the website www.chitinadipnetters.com.

Byron Haley, president
Chitina Dipnetters Association
Fairbanks

Fundraising

CDA must raise $5,000 to pay off loans taken to pay for our subsistence classification lawsuit. Please donate. Click for more information.

BoF Meeting

CDA board member Paul Holland will be paying his own way to Valdez for the Board of Fish meeting December 2nd through the 7th. He will be representing the Chitina Dipnetters Association and dipnetters wanting a fair shake when the salmon resource is divided amongst subsistence, commercial, personal use and sport fishermen. Donations to help him defray his expenses are appreciated.
